How tIme flies!
Scottish Terrier Rescue of Florida (STROF) recently completed its first full year...
“Saving Scotties in the Sunshine State”!
As we reflect on that milestone, here are some STROF highlights through 2016:
(These rescue dogs ranged in age from 2-15 years.)
20 were adopted
3 were placed in permanent foster or hospice care
1 was still being evaluated in foster care (December 2016)
humane society organization in the state of Florida.
This would not have been possible without the help of the STROF Board,
volunteers, supporters and donors. Thank you all so much!!!

STCTB is proud to help support a young junior handler who loves Scotties,
Nick Corsberg. .Many of you have seen 9-year old Nick and his Scottie girl Cera (Brookstone’s Serenity Firefly) at shows in recent months. They are an adorable- and successful- team, having already earned 5 points (including one major) toward Cera's AKC championship.
Nick recently received his official AKC junior handler number and pin, which he proudly displays. Nick and Cera are mentored by Jene Anderson and Sheila-Faith Barry, and Nick's parents (Christine and Jason Corsberg)
are STCTB members
Nick and Cera were featured in a recent article in our STCTB newsletter. Click here to read:Nick and Cera's Story
Scottish Terriers are a difficult breed for junior handlers to groom, train and show. (We all know why!) Nick has shown exemplary dedication to mastering the skills needed and is a delight to watch in the ring.

We had a howling good time with 55 people, and 36 dogs attending our family event on a beautiful fall day at Hillsborough River State Park!
Everyone enjoyed a scrumptious BBQ and pot-luck luncheon, Scottie-themed boutique sales, an introduction to barn hunt and agility, and the annual Scottie Halloween costume parade.
It's time to renew
and pay your dues!
In 2016 STCTB raffled off a beautiful Scottie quilt to raise funds for the Scottish Terrier Bladder Cancer Screening Study at Purdue University. (Purdue's Dr. Deborah Knapp has been researching transitional cell carcinoma (TCC)- bladder cancer- in dogs. Unfortunately, Scottish Terriers are one of several breeds at high-risk for TCC.)
The lovely Scottie quilt was hand-crafted and generously donated by
Miriam Hoy. STCTB Board member Pam Lowe led the effort to sell tickets
for the quilt drawing.
The results of the quilt raffle are now in!
A huge THANK YOU to Miriam Hoy, Pam Lowe, and all the individuals
who generously purchased tickets for the drawing.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening with 27 Scottie-loving friends. at our annual dinner and awards event. Scottie treasurers were claimed from the sales boutique, several members received awards for new championships earned in 2015, prizes were collected, and raffle tickets sold for a chance to win a beautiful hand-made Scottie quilt- to benefit canine bladder cancer research at Purdue University. Thank you to everyone who attended! We enjoyed meeting everyone- and hope to see you again soon at another STCTB activity.
